Auditor Lloyd R. Smith reports 1970 audit shows Richard Hotle levied 8,104.56 in fines from 452 JP cases, the highest among Washington County justices of the peace. Total 1,116 cases and 19,529.54 in fines statewide. clerks and mayors added 14 and 1,298 fines respectively. Watermelon Day promo offered 6,000 pounds of fruit in Central Park September 11. Fines distributed to eight county school districts total 18,877.53 with district shares varying by community.
