Price chief Paul A. Porter said the OPA aims to launch its toughest anti black market program as new meat ceilings take effect Sept 9. The agency ended a 30 day price raising spree, warning that black market activity will be met with strong enforcement while meat supplies may be tighter due to natural factors and abundant corn. Porter noted hog and cattle markets have drawn down some supplies with hog futures unclear and feedlots stripping market-ready cattle.

Frank Dinsmore 66 of Weirfield faces a preliminary hearing on leaving the scene of an accident. State patrol says a car with license plates sued to Dinsmore struck Jack Baldwin a Senandoah soldier on a downtown Ottumwa street yesterday. Baldwin had minor injuries. War Doctor Couple Reunites in Washington
Dr Newton served through 1944 in Fort Jackson South Carolina and Billings General Hospital Indiana before joining the First Army in Europe. After Germany's surrender he planned to go to Japan. He married Gertrude Premeau in Boston where she served as chief nurse in Cushing General Hospital. She rose to major and served overseas with the Seventh Army.
