Eisenhower Proposes One Year Nuclear Test Suspension
President Eisenhower announced the United States is prepared to suspend nuclear weapons tests for one year from Oct 31 if the Soviet Union resumes testing and agrees to negotiate a world test ban. He said negotiations could begin and an inspection system be installed, with year by year extensions possible if progress on arms control is made. The statement was sent to Moscow and to NATO in Paris.

Riverside Man Dies After County Auto Wreck
Missouri man George P. Anderson, 59, died at 3 30 p m Thursday at University Hospitals in Iowa City from injuries after a one car crash four miles south of junction of highways 218 and 22. He suffered a basal skull fracture a broken leg and a fractured shoulder when his 1957 auto left the road and rolled over several times. He was thrown from the car and found about 20 feet from its final rest. A speeding ticket found on his person shows a Nebraska citation the day prior. Sheriff Charles Snyder investigated.

Services are pending for Earl C. Monson 56 who died Thursday at Mercy Hospital Iowa City after an earlier surgery. He lived on a farm north of Crawfordsville since 1940 and was an elder in the Federated Presbyterian church and a past master of the Crawfordsville Masonic Lodge.
