Iowa to see more phosgene gas train shipments
Gov. Robert D. Ray learned that two more shipments of lethal phosgene gas may move across Iowa in coming weeks on a route similar to the previous 15-car train. An official in the federal Transportation Department told Rays office that seven more trains from Denver are likely in the next 20 weeks, with about 40,000 gallons per shipment. Protests erupted over not being informed in advance and Ray asked President Nixon to investigate.
