A Saturday lecture by Caleb Powers attracted the largest audience of the Chautauqua Sessions to date, drawing praise from attendees as the congressman, described as "From Old Kaintuck," spoke to the gathering.
Caleb Powers, the Kentuckian once imprisoned for complicity in Senator Goebel’s murder and later elected to Congress, spoke for hours to a large Chautauqua audience. He described trials, miscarriages of justice, and his eventual vindication while urging forgiveness and condemning political manipulation.
The Sadler Company presents an evening of lectures and a dramatic recital. Dr Wm O Sadler speaks on worry and Americanitis of the high pressure life, with a blood pressure demonstration by a trained nurse. Dr Lena Sadler offers a dress health lesson for women and a gown demonstration. Sarah and Mildred Wilmer perform The Sign of the Cross, praised for its dramatic quality.

Samuel Conner marks his 88th birthday with a family dinner and warm wishes.
Dr Charles F Wishart of the Allegheny Theological Seminary preached at the First United Presbyterian Church to a mixed congregation from the First and Second United Presbyterian churches. His text from the ninetieth psalm spoke of life’s end and the unrest in viewing life from any stand. He said faith in Jesus Christ and his death on the cross meets all demands of past present and future and removes sighing and discontent.
The Mystic Workers of the World Regular meeting set for Monday night August 19 1912 in the A O U W ball with a new location. Members and families are invited to attend at 6 30 PM Wednesday evening at the club tent on Avenue C.
A new device called the electrical thief catcher uses a button or under counter switch. When pressed it closes and locks all doors and rings a bell to alert staff. It aims to deter shoplifters and aid rapid response.
City lumber yards will close Wednesday and Thursday afternoons this week due to Chautauqua activities.
