State Tax Levy Fixed At Nine Mills In Iowa
Des Moines August 17 The State Board of Equalization fixed the tax rate for the coming year at nine mills a one mill reduction from last year. Of the nine mills 7.68 applies to general property and 1.22 to soldiers bonus retirement bonds. Farm land values statewide set at 65.70 per acre a 3 percent drop from 68.20. Railway property valuations rose, city property valuations also up. The board fixed 7 600 000 as the direct tax levy for government purposes. A 20 percent reduction in farm land valuations in Des Moines county was approved on a 34 percent basis.
