Army Alerts 113 Guard and Reserve Units for Possible Call Up

County Swine Growers Have Champions At Cedar Rapids Fair
Bill Crayne and son of Washington showed the junior champion sow at the All-Iowa Pig Congress, a feature of the All-Iowa Fair in Cedar Rapids Tuesday. The champion sow was grand champion in the Poland China division. Three Ainsworth exhibitors were among the leading winners Monday. Joe Jones Jr. had the junior Tamworth sow which also won grand champion, and Joe Jones held the reserve Tamworth grand. Connie Greene drove the second place lightweight in the quality park. Barrows were to be taken to Wilson & Co. Tuesday for slaughter with cass placings announced later.

Miss Veda Stryker 75 died July 24 at the Methodist Home in Charlotte North Carolina. She was born September 7 1886 in Danville and taught at Pfeifer College and local high schools. Survived by brothers Dr Charles Stryker of Sheldon and Dr William Stryker of McMinnville Oregon.
