In Sidney Iowa Kay Stocker 18 fell from her horse during entrance and recovered both animal and poise. Officials prepared to crown her Miss Rodeo of Iowa despite the mishap.
At the Suez conference in London the United States Britain and France outline a four point plan to internationalize the canal. An international board under treaty and UN association would run the canal with Egyptian representation and no domination by any single power. The plan also guarantees Egypt a fair return and compensation to former stockholders with disputes to arbitration.
The University of Iowa will study why children study or not in Ottumwa Oskaloosa West Liberty Keota and Buck Creek. About 3000 children and 6000 parents will participate in a survey by the Child Welfare Research Station to assess home atmosphere motivation and parental attitudes on school effort. Fourth to sixth graders will take two tests, followed by parent questionnaires.
Adlai E. Stevenson said he would have preferred a specific endorsement of the Supreme Court desegregation ruling but hailed the platform’s civil rights plank as a firm basis to move ahead. He urged party unity to avoid further bitterness and hinted his acceptance speech could come tonight if the contest wraps quickly.

The Wrights of Cedar Rapids stay at Grand Hotel while seeking quarters, and John E Lins of Des Moines, tied to Wilfred Dawson Water Proofing, resides at 513 S Eighth Ave.
John Schultz, state consultant, spoke at Washington High School on Wednesday night about general purposes of a school reorganization program. He stressed two objectives: improve education for all Iowa youths and maximize the value of education dollars, while noting he did not endorse current county reorganization moves.
Chicago reports Stevenson dominated the roll call with 725 first ballot votes and a potential nod on the first ballot barring a miracle. Chicago report says Adlai E. Stevenson narrowed a list of six to unknown others as he considers a running mate. Named contenders include Estes Kefauver Hubert Humphrey Albert Gore John F Kennedy Robert Meyner and Robert Wagner Jr while Stevenson weighs options in a private hotel room.
