Lahore reports indicate 57 people killed and 63 injured as religious clashes between Muslims and Hindus spread fires across the city. Schools closed and communications cut while tension rises ahead of India's partition.
A divorce petition filed in Aletha Engle versus Marion A Engle asks for a decree of divorce. They married December 2 1933 at Kahoka Missouri and lived as spouses until August 1947. They have one child Karen Lee Engle, with custody sought by plaintiff attorney E D Morrison Jr.
Friends of Mrs George Wilson and family may call at L A Jones funeral home this evening to pay their respects. Funeral services for Mrs Wilson who died in California will be held tomorrow.

Vice commanders named include George A. White Earl Dean and others. Laird was re elected adjutant Boyce named historian Riffe chaplain Walters sergeant at arms and Brown national committeeman. Governor Blue urged unity and a strong nation in wartime and postwar tasks.
Antoinette Gray died today at Mt. Pleasant hospital after about five years of illness. A West Chester native, she later lived in Keota and was widow of Theodore Gray who died in 1922. She leaves grandson Cloyce Stoutner. body sent to L. A. Jones funeral home for arrangements.
Milton Harris, 25, of Pittsburgh, admitted selling diamond rings at about 50 cents each after police traced him in Newton Iowa for obtaining money under false pretenses. He claimed a robbery and loss of money funded the rings while intending payment for a car sale, but Oklahoma City and Newton records contradicted his story.

Dwayne E. Schneider of Riverside told the sheriff he nodded off at about two o'clock this morning while driving two miles east of Kalona. His car was ditched and damaged about 175 dollars with no injuries reported.
