About 2,500 spectators filled seats and overflow areas for the Washington Saddle Club Society Horse Show on Friday night. The event featured top horses from the state with entries from Hinows and Missouri spread across thirteen classes, prizes totaling over 600, and hours of entertainment led by master of ceremonies Harlan Conley of Des Moines and Hilton Durst of Washington.

Guardsmen Return Home From Camp At Port Leonard Wood
Iowa and Nebraska National Guardsmen of the 64th division and three non divisional units begin returning home from Port Leonard Wood Missouri after a two week summer camp. Some units will return for limited annual activation while others anticipate more drills and training later in the year.

No Further Guard Call Up Unless World Situation Worsens

Hallie M. Ward 51 of 315 East Third street Davenport was found in the Mississippi River near Davenport. Two brothers Harry and Carl Ward of Washington survive. Ward formerly resided in Davenport and worked at the H. J. Ward store. An inquest ruled accidental drowning. funeral services followed, burial in Andalusia cemetery.
