Youth exchange brings French youths to Washington County
Two French youths arrive for August homestay in Washington County as part of the International Cultural Exchange program. Francoise Gilbert, 17, from Lille, stays with Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Martin of Washington, while Christophe Canouet, 18, of Bordeaux lives with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wehr of rural Keota. They will remain until August 31 under the nonprofit program’s aim to foster goodwill between nations.

Eldon youth to be tried as adult for arson
An Eldon youth, Toby L. Swaim, 18, held on $10,000 bond in Wapello County Jail pending county attorney information charging arson. Counties seek relaxed road standards to cut costs
