Record air sorties exceed prior Vietnam milestones

American pilots flew 139 missions Monday against North Vietnam hitting military sites fuel depots and communication lines. Seven U.S. planes were downed with one pilot rescued after parachuting near the Chinese border. Ground action included a 12 hour Marine reconnaissance stand and a total of 329 U.S. planes shot down in the two year air war.

Johnson reviews wage guidelines to match productivity gains

Washington officials say the Johnson administration will reexamine its wage price guidelines to be more flexible, tying increases to industry productivity. Bodies found in Texas night search for teens slain

Edna Louise Sullivan 16 is found in brush twelve miles from where her boyfriend Robert Brand 17 and cousin Mark Dunnam 16 were shot and stuffed in Brand’s car trunk. Brand and Dunnam killed. Green 18 admits rape, claims McDuff 20 strangled and shot the boys.

Four Waterloo Men Held on Forgery Charge in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids police seized four Waterloo men James Jones 30 Donald Vanda 24 Charles Talley 22 and a 17 year old in custody on forgery charges for cashing forged postal money orders. Independence police arrested them Monday and transferred them to Cedar Rapids. Police seek links to a Sunday night Superette postal sub station break in and theft of postal money orders and cash. Federal authorities plan to question the group.

Civil rights demonstrators clash with Dixie police in Grenada

In Grenada Mississippi hundreds of Black protesters cursed police and pelted cars with bottles Monday night after being turned away from the voter registrar. Officers said demonstrators were attacked first and the melee ended without arrests or injuries.
