Despite threatening skies a crowd over 1000 enjoyed the annual Washington Saddle Club horse show at Townsley Park. Twelve classes offered over 8500 in prize money with entries from Illinois Missouri Iowa communities. Merle White judged. Janice Wilson and Hilton Durst led the event. local business groups sponsored each class. A shoe loss spurred a nearby blacksmith call from Kalona.
