An official dispatch from Porto Rico reports that the customs house at Fajardo was seized by American forces. A column supported by artillery moved on Guayama, Spaniards retreated to Alturas after a fierce defense with seventeen killed. US casualties included Privates Gordon, Walcott, and Reffee, wounded but not fatally.
Major Victor C.
