Des Moines column recalls Cecelia Galantine a 22 year old state bank clerk who faced two robberies by bandits using her as a shield. In the first robbery they took 980 dollars and fled after her position on the route. Mon day attackers again robbed the same bank. Cecelia says it is something you cannot get used to.
While digging for fishworms Albert Ruark struck a hard object. He learned it was dynamite after inspecting the site. Police recovered 39 sticks of explosive from a gunny sack nearby.
Three young bandits slipped into the Ackley State Bank and escaped with about $2000 while onlookers attending Sauerkraut day watched a horn honking car. The robbers used a ruse with two men circling the block before entering as a third waited with the vehicle nearby.
Ottumwa reports the state convention of the Socialist Party of Iowa will be held in Des Moines on August 24 and 25. announced by H. H. Sprinkel, state chairman, who resides in Ottumwa.
Sanders, a 66 year old farmer from Dows, died at a hospital after his right arm was torn off at the elbow when it was caught in a feed grinder. Loss of blood led to his death.

County Attorney Morrison and Sheriff Putnam move to Oskaloosa where three men in jail will be arraigned before Judge Patterson. All have said they will plead guilty today and receive sentence. Accused are K. F. Huntley for embezzlement and H. L. Norton and J. R. Mills for unlawful possession of liquor.
Bentley Iowa suffered heavy fire damage after an undetermined origin blaze last night destroyed the two story George Johnson grocery store and the town hall and damaged two other buildings.
Fire of undetermined origin aboard the new ten million dollar cruiser was extinguished today at Quincy Massachusetts. The incident involved the latest U S naval vessel and prompted a probe into the cause with no injuries reported.
