King Hit By Rock In White Chicago Riot Night

Dr Martin Luther King and 300 marchers faced a hostile all white Marquette Park crowd in Chicago. An assailant struck King with a rock but he was bruised not badly. police arrested 44 people amid disorder and fireworks charges as riot police cleared a path for the march.

Trainman Rescues Toddler On Freight Train Tracks

Des Plaines Illinois UP I reports a S00 Line brakeman saved a two year old boy named David Berry who ran along tracks. The boy slipped between rails as the train passed with the helper grabbing to push him forward before he hit the cross ties. He was found under the ninth car crying for his mother.

Johnsons Daughter Marries Pat Nugent in White House Ceremony

Luci Baines Johnson, 19, wed Patrick John Nugent, 23, at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception with 700 guests and a major White House reception. The event featured a 352 foot aisle, 150 choir voices, a 7 layer cake, and 500 Secret Service plus police. The couple will live in Austin, Texas, and attend the University of Texas in September.
