198th Mission Ends For Lt Karl Richter In Vietnam
UPI reports Air Force Lt Karl Richter of Holly Michigan was killed over North Vietnam on his 198th flight. He had volunteered for 100 extra missions and planned a going home party, but his final mission ended in a crash during a supposedly safer Package One area.

Near tragedy as man attacked pilot with hammer high above Pacific

Massive ammo depot blast near Da Nang causes huge fireballs
In Saigon, a grass fire apparently touched off millions of rounds of mortar shells rockets and bullets at Phu Bai ammunition dump 40 miles northwest of Da Nang. No American casualties. Five Children Dead When Truck Upset Near Fremont
A flatbed truck carrying 62 children home from a Santa Cruz outing overturned on a freeway in Fremont after noon Friday.
