New York police arrested Eugene Daniels Jr a 32 year old Harvard graduate and lawyer on a charge of placing a tear gas bomb in the New York Stock Exchange ventilating system causing trading to be suspended for the day. Two Men Die in Burlington Garage Fire
Early today a fire destroyed a Burlington garage near the business district killing Joe Sehneider of Burlington and Harold Rust of Little York Illinois. Proprietor Albert Rust was critically burned while the three men slept in a room above the garage. The blaze started in the office and spread quickly through soaked floors. Washington National Bank to reorganize into new bank
At a meeting of about fifty to sixty stockholders in the Washington National Bank last evening the group unanimously voted to proceed with the organization of a new bank to succeed the Washington Nations Bank. The plan includes immediately releasing 50 percent of deposits to depositors once the new bank opens, with 60 percent of assets placed in trustees for liquidation and distribution. The new bank would open with 50 000 dollars capital and 10 000 dollars surplus, requiring at least 45 000 dollars in stock subscriptions from old-bank stockholders. The plan is backed by Treasury department endorsement and offers deposit guarantees and limited liability for future stockholders.
