The 120 acres of Iowa land sold for 165 per acre to W G Gregory. Joseph Hanson of Mills County reported as seller. The sale concerned the Docate Tournament project in western Iowa.

Clinton la Aug 5 Clintonis waging a fight for pure milk council has adopted ordinances for milk inspection by a regularly appointed officer. About a dozen Clintonites are in the field for the appointment to be made at the August council meeting.
Hartford Aug 5 Connecticut lawmakers in both houses approved a bill to repeal the so called dive laws restricting Sunday observance and nearly all secular recreation and activity.
Miss Elsie Gasser, eighteen, daughter of Attorney John J. Gasser, died after an operation for suspected appendicitis. Doctors found no appendix harm and concluded death resulted from injuries to vital organs caused by tight corset lacing.
Des Moines reports C. W. Larson who resigned as secretary of the state pharmacy commission remains in charge and will stay until a successor is elected. Charles Phillips, former secretary, says he will not take the office again despite a report he might be asked to return.
The American consulate in Barcelona reports all Americans in the city and affected district are accounted for and safe following the recent disturbances.
Investigators report three trunks shipped from St Louis to Chicago tied to the Viviano kidnapping for a $25,000 ransom. Police suspect a blackmail plot but deny harm to the children. Clothing found in trunks may reveal suspects including Benedetto and Turrisi. Pagano sought death by suicide after confessing.
A mob of railroad workers shouting Viva Reyes surrounded the Protestant church of Calle Benito Juarez in Silao and beat some of the fifty worshipers inside. Mounted police dispersed the mob as shots rang out and church windows were smashed.
White Plains, N Y August 5 The state rested in the Thaw case and Thaws defense led by Charles Morschauser must counter alienist testimony that Thaw is insane. John B Gleason Thaws former adviser testified the change to chief counsel Dolphin M Delmas was ordered by Gleason and not Thaws whim. Gleason suggested Thaws actions toward Stanford White stemmed from knowledge of White's practices.
Three more alleged victims from Marysville Missouri Fowler Colorado and Toledo filed district court petitions against Maybray the First National Bank Ernest E Hart and others to recover losses. Pierpont and King lost about 2000 each Pratt 4000. Twenty suits have been filed against the Maybray gang.
Franklin Adams of Bucyrus Ohio died at ninety six leaving about $100000. He disinherited kin and left nearly all his estate to Lizzie Ostermier his housekeeper for thirty years. Only $1000 goes to relatives.
