Ottumwa Couple in Cessna Crashes in Storm Near Maplecrest
Mr and Mrs David Reynolds of Ottumwa escaped serious injury when their light plane crashed in a Roscoe County cornfield one mile west of the Maplecrest turkey plant during a rain and wind storm. They had been en route from Iowa City to Ottumwa. Reynolds walked for help after the crash and both were hospitalized. The wreck damaged the aircraft and destroyed significant corn in the field.

Study Judging of Livestock on Tour in County Session
Officials of the county 4 H groups sponsored an instruction session Saturday to teach 4 H and FRA boys how to judge livestock. Willis Longer placed first with John Thompson second and other top finishers listed. Livestock judged included steers, Guernsey heifers, market hogs, and Jersey cows at local homes. A judging contest will be held at the achievement show this week for those who exhibited livestock to qualify for entry. Washington county will have a four member 4 H team at the State Fair, to be selected after the junior fair. Local boys are asked to bring panels for use at the Townsley park building, which is now completed and electrified.

James C Good died at his Keota home Sunday after years of illness. Funeral services are planned Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Christian church in Keota with Rev. John Brower officiating. Burial will be in South English cemetery. Marsh funeral home in charge. He was born March 26 1852 in Harrisburg Virginia, and married Blanche Sassaman in 1895. They moved to Keota 22 years ago. Survivors include his wife, a daughter Lucille Gasle Cupp of Phoenix, a granddaughter, and two brothers.
