Warning Issued After Two Assaults By Traveling Salesman
Washington County investigators warn rural residents, especially young women, about a man posing as an over the road salesman who has assaulted two women in a month. The latest incident occurred Monday on a dirt road near West Chester where a bicyclist, in her late 20s, escaped after the man rammed her bike and attempted advances. Descriptions place the suspect as a white man 6 feet tall, 210 to 220 pounds, in his late 30s or early 40s with dark curly hair and horned-rim glasses, driving a dark late model four‑door car. Police urge reporting any sighting to the Public Safety Center or CB channel nine.

Debate over city police holiday pay stalls in limbo
Washington City Council stalled on a motion to grant patrolmen time and a half for holidays plus a compensatory day off. The measure failed with three votes, as Councilmen Miller and Moyer opposed citing excessive net pay and pay equality concerns. Police Chief Bauer had urged moving to time and a half with a day off.
