Harlan John McCreedy 80 of 414 East Jefferson Street died at the hospital at 4 30 a m August 3 1961. He worked at Dougherty's Clothing Store for 40 years and was born August 27 1880 in Washington County. Survivors include his wife three children six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services set for 11 a m Saturday at Jones Funeral Home with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. He was a member of Marion Avenue United Presbyterian Church and the Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Rescue teams found a tourist bus with sixteen Americans aboard at the bottom of Lake Lucerne after a collision with a truck on a mountain road. Twenty two escaped through windows and a sun roof. one body recovered at once, fifteen believed trapped. Three survivors were seriously injured, including a honeymoon couple from Connellsville Pennsylvania. The sun roof aided escapes, and the scene was described as occurring in seconds. The bus, with 35 Americans, an Italian driver, and a Swiss guide, toppled into the water. the wreck was found in 150 feet of depth.
