It also includes attorneys such as Livingston Day Bates Morrison Lloyd Owen Stewart and Shearer, plus dentists, osteopaths, and optometrists with phone numbers and office details.
Crawfordsville July 30 new officers were installed at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting. Retiring president Mrs Richard Lease opened the session. Seventeen senior and four junior members answered roll call as treasurer Mrs Leonard Arthur reported audits by Mrs Florence Henss and Mrs Orin Johnson. Officers include Myral Smith president and Richard Kaufman treasurer with chaplain Mrs Everette Sommer and sergeant at arms Mrs Ernest Whiting. New committees named and work calendar projects set to begin.
Elmore family reunion held at Weed Park Muscatine drawing about sixty attendees from Richland Brighton Cedar Rapids Davenport and Marshalltown. Cox family reunion in Rubio with about fifty guests from Bushnell Lafayette Prairie City Rubio Richland Brighton Packwood Columbus Ohio and Lancaster Missouri. Residences of Earl Gillas and Katherine Jones receive fresh coats of paint. Richland outdoor union church service drew a good crowd with Rubio Friends in charge. Rev Phillip Hoff led special numbers and a sermon. Richland Friends set August 4 service with Rev John E McCracken bringing the message. open to public. guests welcome.
Glenn Rowe and family from O Fallon Missouri returned home after visiting Fay Rowe and relatives in Wellman. They attended the Nira picnic. Several dinner guests visited local families over the weekend including Burl Pringle, Donald Penningroth, Keith, Ira Huber, Paul Noffsigger, Henry Foster, Kenneth Kempf, Kenneth Ruegsger and families. Duane Ruegsegger of Anchorage, Alaska, visiting his parents. he has taught in Anchorage schools. Cole Miller Kay and Susie of Seattle visited Al Miller and were guests of the Foster home. Mrs. James Bowen and Mrs. Myrtle Bowen, recently from California, were callers. Myrtle plans to stay in town. Clifford Freel and Harvey Freel spent Sunday afternoon with each other.
Mrs Marguerite Gingerich and relatives from Kalona and Wayland joined in Kalona at Kalonial Town House for Rev Gingerich’s 81st birthday. A later item notes Sandra Strickfaden’s shower with gifts for Robert Rudman’s upcoming marriage and a quiet gathering of 1952 graduates for a Sunset Park reunion in Washington.
Local item from Keota notes Mrs. Lawrence Romine and Evelyn aided Gary Sondag's family move in Cedar Rapids. Several relatives visited Don Sigler’s home in Rock Island and a ball game in Chicago. Hi Lo Pinochle Club plans August 8 at Bernice Dill's home. Bereaved and extended families are mentioned in scattered notes.
Wayland four states are represented in the Bob Jones University Ensemble which will present sacred music August 4 at 8 p m at the Independent Bible Church Wayland. Charles Bierman director comes from Phoenix John Flynn of Oto John Vaprezsan of Indiana and Lance Flower of ten complete the great four musicians sing and play in a brass ensemble public invited to hear the program Sunday.
Mrs Walter Landes and children of Burlington visited this week with her mother and brother Mrs Max ine Schafer and son Dean and with her grandparents Mr and Mrs Glen Schafer. Saturday she received word her husband was hurt seriously in a truck and car accident and is in University Hospital Town City. Mrs Lena Kirk Mr Pleasant visited her brother John Wieneke Sr and daughter Sarah and also visited in the J A Wieneke and Carl Amrine homes. John Crile Mrs Maggie Resch ley and Mrs Harlan Diers Hon Mannhardt and daughter Ossie were callers in the Carl Amrine home this week. Mr and Mrs John Baldosier and Mrs Andrew Zilman attended the Kalona Festival Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Robert Kuntz and sons went to Cedar Falls Sunday to visit the Ronald Statler family. Mrs Kuntz stayed to help care for her granddaughter. Mr and Mrs Leonard Smith sited Mr and Mrs John Ballester Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs Ralph Smith and sons visited in the Glen Zihlman home Sunday.
Members of the Anna Wyse family gathered at the cabin at Oakland Mills on Sunday for a cooperative dinner honoring Mr and Mrs J S Wyse of Santa Ana California. Hosts included Edward Roth Roy Boshart and other local families attended.
A bridal shower given at Mrs. Dale Strotman’s home in Town City honored Miss Barbara Cole. Attendees included Mrs. W. S. Bouquet, Sherry, Mrs. Charles Rose, Ann, Mrs. Mike Wilkinson, Jane Knebel, Jean Kiefer, Marilyn Schmidt of Riverside, and Mrs. Judy Carlson of Iowa City. Miss Cole and Jerry Higgins of Ft Dodge are set to wed August 10 at St. Mary’s Church Riverside.
Ellis Rickeys of St. Louis visited Wellman and were hosted by Dr. and Mrs. E D Miller. Mrs. Donna Finn dined with local hosts. Paul Finn returned to Cedar Rapids with her. Many local residents hosted guests in Wellman and surrounding towns. Parley Baer, actor known for The Andy Griffith Show, noted for extensive career.
