Farmers Seek Ties From Abandoned Railroad Line
Seven residents from Lich Creek township filed in district court an injunction against Rock Island Lines to stop removal of railroad ties from its abandoned right of way. They claim ties taken from the former Kansas City line roadbed are now on land deeded to former owners and valued as fence posts building supports fuel and other uses.

Mrs. J. O. Matthews died this afternoon at a Mt. Pleasant nursing home after a fall years ago fractured her hip and illness since. Funeral services by L. A. Jones Funeral Home will be held in Washington with notice in the Monday Journal.

Louie Pieper 62 of Richmond died this morning at his home three miles west of Richmond after a heart attack. Funeral services are planned for Monday at Holy Trinity church in Richmond with Father Boeckmann, burial in Richmond cemetery.
