Daisy Ulrich Opie Grace testified in Atlanta that her husband Eugene Grace shot himself during a struggle over a power of attorney. She described repeated attacks by him and a violent confrontation ending with a single gunshot.
A Minneapolis report from August 2 states the 1995 harvest will reach about 265 million bushels, the largest on record, with 198 million previously the high mark. The local milling paper highlights Minnesota and the Dakotas as major contributors to the record yield.

Red Wing Minnesota August 2 George P Hutchson aged forty and his son Lee seven were instantly killed when struck by a Chicago Milwaukee St Paul passenger train at a crossing. The boy ran ahead of his father who tried to save him and died as well.
Alexander Antona his wife Annetta Holliday Antona and nephew Angelo Villa were freed in Detroit after arrest pending an inquiry into the death of Elizabeth Flemming a servant. Officials said no evidence linked them to any wrongdoing. Francisco Albiach a Spanish tenor died on stage in Newton Iowa during a performance.
Report from Nogales says two men Guifo Shinbert and John Hertling, former Douglas residents, were hanged in Cananea. both Germans, Hertling seeking American citizenship. Battle near Casas Grandes sees federal victory over rebels with two cannons captured and 50 plus rebel dead. About 1,500 refugees arrive in El Paso from Casas Grandes.
