A pistol wilding man from Ohio tried to hijack a Pacific Airlines DC3 at Chico Airport. He fired at passengers wounding two and blinded the pilot in one eye, then subdued after a struggle with crew and passengers. He was jailed and to face psychiatrists.

Couple in Good Condition LeFevers Injured in Crash
An elderly Washington couple, Lloyd LeFever 72 and his wife, were hospitalized in good condition after a two car collision on highways 1 and 92 Monday evening. Robert Brinning 25, also of Washington, was not injured. The LeFevers sustained chest injuries, a broken nose, and severe head lacerations with a smashed thigh. the wife was transferred from a local hospital to Iowa City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Van Vliet of Columbus Junction will be at Stacey Funeral Home at 2:30 pm Thursday. She died July 41 in St Paul Minnesota at her son Russell Van Vliet’s home.
