The United States and Red China began secret Geneva talks with Peiping Radio announcing the immediate release of 11 imprisoned American airmen. The prisoner issue was eased but 40 civilians remain in Red China custody. Ambassador Johnson called the talks a tet a tete and said they are talks, not a conference. Slightly Injured In Auto Accident Here
Mary Leith Crossett a 17 year old from Washington was treated by a local dentist after a minor rear end collision on West Madison Street Sunday night. Police cited damage estimates of 250 to Gladys Knupp and 150 to Howard Swift as Knupp failed to see Swift’s arm signal. Crossett was a passenger in Knupp’s car. This was Washington’s eighth July accident and third injury, the year’s highest month.
