Shooting at Humm Home Sparks Long Conflict of Two Gentlemen
Yesterday at 3 30 pm William Buntenbach was shot by Henry Humm at Humms residence one mile west of Eureka. The 32 caliber pistol wound entered the right breast and damaged the lung. Humm, 72, says Buntenbach and his family came to clean them out after two years of acrimony stemming from a calf dispute. Buntenbach’s condition was serious but he rested at midnight and may recover. Humm claims self defense and reports Buntenbach had threatened him previously. The Journal will seek Buntenbach’s statement later.
