Griff's Standard Service Opens on North Marion Avenue
Marion Griffin of Washington announces the Thursday opening of Griff's Standard Service Standard Oil station on North Marion avenue opposite the Methodist church. Griffin, a wartime veteran, previously worked at Brown & Orr's Courtesy Corner and Brindley's Standard station and has since been at Brown's Courtesy Corner. The closed station has a repaired concrete driveway and an upcoming shelter for the grease rack.

A late April storm south of Crawfordsville caused localized damage from 5:30 to 6 p m. At Robert Gray farm two hog houses were torn up and shingles blown off. Dell Farrier farm also reported damage. Escapes Serious Injuries in Highway Crash
John R. Ritter of Wayne Kansas drove north on highway 218 near Haskins when a wheel left the soft shoulder. He tried to regain the roadway and lost control striking a stop sign then the ditch and a fence before hitting a telephone pole. The car suffered about 250 dollars in damage. the sign and fence about 25 dollars. Ritter had head cuts and bruises and his wife a twisted neck but both continued to Cedar Rapids in the same car.
