Democratic floor leader Garrett of Tennessee attacked the Hauge farm relief bill in the House warning it would upend the agricultural system. He said it could place farmers under government control and destroy freedom of contract while taxing every farm product to fund stabilization. He argued the plan is unworkable and harmful.
Col Charles A Lindbergh lands at Boling Field from St Louis and flies Spirit of St Louis to Washington where the plane will be housed at the Smithsonian Institute for public viewing. The display will join other historic aircraft and war regalia in a prominent museum setting.
Phenomenal advances of wheat and corn to new high prices for the season sparked a frantic buying session on the Chicago Board of Trade. Western drought and fears of crop abandonment fueled the scramble as traders chased rapid gains.

Paving crews west of town finished close to two miles of concrete on Highway No 2 as favorable weather aided progress. Total poured stands at 9,079 feet from two mixer sites, with West from Crooked Creek at 4,437 feet and West Chester at 4,642 feet. A bridge over the creek west of town is rumored but official word from Engineer Rawne is not received.
The Senate adopted a resolution creating a special committee of five senators to investigate campaign contributions and expenditures of all presidential candidates from both parties. Introduced by Senator Robinson, the measure was referred, reported with an amendment, and approved with a $25,000 appropriation before 1 PM.

H F Tracy a long time Brighton resident died late Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were held at his home with burial in Brighton cemetery. He had been in poor health for years and had worked in dry goods and banking before joining his son Ralph Tracy in the dairy business. He is survived by two brothers and a sister, and his wife had died years before. Elijah Fulton, another former Brighton resident, died Saturday night at airfield after years of ill health. Baxter Incham, a senior Brighton resident, suffers a stroke of paralysis sustained Saturday.

California as McAdoo’s home state and Smith’s challenger status heighten the stakes with endorsements and rival camps across the party.
Funeral services for Charles Freding will be held Tuesday at 2 30 in the L A Jones funeral home conducted by Dr W W Bowers with a Knight Templar escort to Elm Grove cemetery and a Masonic burial at the grave. He died Saturday in Des Moines after months of illness and leaves six daughters and two sons.
Mrs Bowers who had been in Pomona California hospital for weeks is much improved and has left the hospital for her brother Dr Freeman's home. Mrs N Babcock Mrs Ralph Smith and Mrs Orville Elder visited her there and she hoped to return home soon. She planned an Easter trip to San Diego but remained in care.

WEAF has Ever ready hour with Frederick Gunster and Michel Gusikoff. WEAF at 4 30 features a Child health association hour with Herbert Hoover and William Green. WOR Newark and WOC Davenport also present programs including a high school concert and Main street sketches.
John Sistern a 64 year old Brighton resident was seriously injured when his Ford was struck on a private crossing by a locomotive of the Minneapolis and St. Louis line Sunday morning at Brighton. He remained unconscious or semi conscious and suffered a severe concussion, with the car badly damaged.
Judge sentenced Elza McKinney who pled guilty to forgery to ten years in the state reformatory at Anamosa with parole for good behavior. Frank Halpin, arrested after burglary at Ottumwa, to six months in the county jail and a $100 fine. Court set May 14 for further business.
Margaret Kenetel arrived from Des Moines Saturday night to visit her aunt Mrs. William Kensler at the family home.
A million-strong New York greeted Baron Von Huene feld Maj James Fitzmaurice and Capt Hermann Koehl as they rode a victory parade from the Battery to City Hall. Police and soldiers kept order while flags from the United States Germany and the Irish Free State flew.
Saml Leeper a fruit culture expert says he has closely inspected county fruit trees and vines and forecasts a good crop. He notes pears were slightly damaged by a freeze but peaches apples and cherries are sound with little fruit frozen. He plans to demonstrate on six orchards this spring and will name them later.
