Advices received at the War Department announce the surrender of General Luna Aguinaldo and his followers, signaling the end of the Philippine war. In Canton, Ohio Mrs. George is acquitted of murder of Sexton, a verdict met with enthusiasm.

Escanaba Michigan April 28 The damage to saw mill property from flood water will be repaired at once after a flood breached its banks and flooded the yard. Local authorities report swift action to restore operations and prevent further damage to nearby facilities.
A Kirksville cyclone wrecked much of the eastern city, killing dozens and injuring nearly 1,000. Fire followed the collapse and many bodies were incinerated. a separate toll in Newton, Sullivan county tallies thirty-seven dead. Widespread damage also hits Wisconsin and Iowa towns with cloudbursts and power outages.
A major wind storm with rain and hail struck Soldier valley in Onawa Ia Wednesday night. An inch of rain fell in twelve minutes. The Furne family suffered severe injuries including head, back, and skull traumas to Leslie Furne and Harry Furne, with possible fatalities. George Furne, Lewis Larron, and Aunt Amundson were also listed with serious injuries.
Representative Henderson of Iowa announces his candidacy for the speakership of the national House. In Chicago on April 28 Mrs. Nettie A. Miller faced charges after a plot to kill her rival and the rival’s husband emerged. The couple, who learned of her scheme from tickets to a dance, found a revolver and narrowly escaped as Miller was caught loading it. The husband, L. Siebert, appeared with his newly wedded wife and sister in court as the case adjourned to May 8.
