Rockefeller Backers Seek Midwest Support for Rockefeller
Nelson Rockefeller supporters William E. Miller and Thruston B. Morton travel the Midwest to drum up GOP backing for Rockefeller. They say Nixon could be stopped and that a two-ballot fight is likely at Miami, with a dialogue urged to avoid a monologue at the convention. Miller praises Rockefeller’s fiscal strength in New York and leadership while planning stops in Des Moines and other cities.
