DES MOINES April 24 UP The beer control and liquor by the drink bills seem near death as the House rejected the conference committee beer control measure 57 to 49 though the Senate had approved it. Lawmakers doubt any new liquor laws will pass before adjournment while a new conference committee is formed. Several representatives denounced the measure as ridiculous and unworkable. A handful of names were listed to represent the House on the committee. The Senate also showed little support for allowing liquor by the drink with the House committee again turning it down.
