Rock Island Mayor Indicted Over Assault on Publisher

A grand jury in Rock Island Illinois indicted Mayor H M Schriver for assaulting John Looney publisher of the Rock Island News after Looney published a scandalous attack on the mayor. Senate Hikes Direct Vote Amendment To Conference

The senate voted 42 to 36 to insist on its amendment to the house resolution for direct election of U S senators by the people, sending the measure to conference.
