Set Dates for 2 Track Meets
The Washington County high school track meet will be held April 28 evening and the Kewash track meet on May 10 evening, both at Washington. Nearly 100 town teachers from across the county attended the dinner at Ainsworth Methodist Church, served by Ainsworth pupils. Dean Robert J. Rienow of the State University of Iowa gave an address on working with young people, urging not to write off any student. Superintendent BE RR Butterworth of Ainsworth, president of the county teachers, presided. Kathleen Coffey sang two numbers with Helen Coffey accompanying. About 32 Washington teachers attended. this was the final meeting of the county town teachers for the year.

Walter Johnson Dies in Fairfield
Walter L Johnson 60 a former Washington county resident died suddenly at his Fairfield home 203 West Jefferson after a stroke Tuesday. Funeral services will be in Fairfield Presbyterian church with Dr I W Eastwood and Dr Gilbert Voorhies officiating. Burial in Elm Grove cemetery. He is survived by his wife two sons Ward and Harold, a daughter Mrs George Robertson and one sister Mrs Walter Mickey. Additional arrangements pending.

Ames Iowa April 20 Dona von Kruse of Rockford a dairy student at Iowa State College tried to untangle a bull's chain from a fence on a Guernsey farm near Ames. The bull attacked Kruse after he attempted the disentangling. He is injured and reported in distress.

Wellman Residents Mourn Two Local Deaths
Funeral services were held for Lena Oswald Hukill at Champion Hill Methodist Church after a cancer operation at Mercy hospital Iowa City. She left a husband and five children and lived nine miles northwest of Wellman. Joe L Swartzendruber died at Mercy hospital Iowa City aged 63. He leaves a wife and three daughters and several siblings. Funeral plans are pending at West Union Mennonite Church.
