Fred J. Blumer, Monroe brewer, was released today in Decatur Illinois by his abduction captors who fled after fearing Chicago detective Lieut. William Cusack was close. Archie W Wells said Blumer was tired dirty and nervous and would travel back to Monroe by easy stages.

Carl Zieglowsky is recovering at home after an appendectomy.
Crawfordsville April 17 Arthur Orris and two children Alcinda and Billy were injured when the Orris car was hit by a train at the Wayne crossing. Orris suffered two fractured ribs and facial cuts. Billy was knocked unconscious with severe bruising. Alcinda had a scalp wound and a bruised knee. The car was wrecked and the family were taken to the Willard David home nearby. Authorities noted the crash may hinge on Orris being blinded by oncoming car lights, causing the ride onto the track.
King Prajadhipok of Siam, aboard the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Japan docking in Vancouver, is incapacitated by illness and cannot leave his royal suite. Physicians deem it dangerous to move him as Queen Rambai Barni readies to receive Canadian dignitaries onboard.
United States District Judge Martin J Wade of Iowa's second district died in Los Angeles after a six week illness from a paralytic stroke. The body will be moved to Iowa City for burial. He formerly served in Congress representing Good Samaritan and was 78.
