Eva Bowring of Merriman Nebraska, a 62 year old Hereford rancher and longtime Republican worker, was appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill the unexpired term of Dwight Griswold. Riverside Man Returns Home After Fall Injuries
Buck Bouquet of Riverside, 52, was released from Mercy hospital after a fall from his home's roof on April 6. He had surgery on a broken left ankle and a broken right heel, with both legs in casts and crutches hoped for mobility. Ardean Fitzsimmons went back to Cedar Rapids after visiting relatives and attending the funeral of Rev. C E Fitzsimmons.

Iowa City police suspended over lost boy case
Two Iowa City policemen were suspended after a missing child case. City Manager Peter Roan suspended ballotman Fred Lewis until April 26 and Detective Harland Sprinkie until April 21. The Clark family said their son Mark four wandered from the station after being kept for safekeeping.
