The Matus band received praise for a dramatic improvement since instruction began. They performed Meyerbeer Huguenots, Jolly Fellows waltz, La Caravanne Patrol, and Merchant of Venice variations with refined technique. Mrs Matus offered a lovely solo. The piece selections drew a good audience and strong applause.
J C Lewis and his orchestra bring Si Plunkard to Graham Friday evening with a road show praised by locals. Parade at 3 pm with seats selling now Gallery 25c Balcony 35-50 Parquet 50. Season runs a few more shows ending May 6 with strong reviews.
The desire to thank attendees contrasts with limited funds for instruments and music. The group aims to form a fine Washington concert band and will perform again around May 1 seeking a full house. Anton Robas was granted a marriage license to wed Josephine Beranek, ending the two week slowdown in the license line.
