Lawton Oklahoma reports President Roosevelt personally witnessed John Abernathy kill a coyote and bring the wolf alive for the president. Roosevelt duplicates the feat, capturing a wolf himself. He also kills a six foot rattlesnake with a riding quirt and preserves the rattles.
London reports the mystery of Vice Admiral Rojestvensky’s location remains unsolved. Speculation centers on six battleships slipping past Singapore with lights out, though one ship may have passed. Tokio says official circles remain silent on the Japanese fleets and no battles are reported.
A fire sparked by lightning struck Blake Bros. large warehouse in Huntington on April 12 causing about 200000 in damage before firefighters arrived. The seven story American Stogie company building and three other structures were also consumed by flames.

Dr. Murray a well known Trent figure in Joplin Missouri is linked to a gang case. On April 1 William Weiver, head of the Antiforse Thief Association of Missouri and Kansas, fought at Caty Junction with a gang member, killing one and injuring another. Burglar tools and dynamite were found. three gang members escaped.
Rev. Dr. Nelson Millard of Rochester after forty five years in the Presbyterian ministry withdraws from the church. He mentions a desire for independent relationship under church articles and abandonment of much of the Westminster confession. No intent to join another denomination is stated. Also notes Chicago strike seeking arbitration and the death of Major William Grewell, a well known Ohio G A R man, by a train in Marietta.
Chicago markets report April 12 1908 with hog receipts 23000 from yesterday and 8354 left over. prices show light hogs 85 35 to 85 65, mixed packers 85 40 to 85 81, heavy shipping grades 86 45 to 85 70. Cattle and sheep receipts around 15000 and 20000 with beef cattle steady to higher and natives western yearlings lambs steady to higher overall market strength persists.
Washington issues a circular to all masters prohibiting calendars music patterns and other objects sold as supplements. It states such items are not germane to a newspaper and must be charged at regular second class rates after Sept 1 1905.
The Supreme Court in an opinion by Justice Brewer grants Heff of Kansas a writ of habeas corpus. Heff had been convicted in Kansas for selling beer at Horton to Kickapoo John Butler, an allottee who became a U.S. citizen. The case contended Butler remained a ward. the court sustained that his citizenship ended the ward status.
The Duke of Manchester arrived in Detroit with the duchess and Eugene Zimmerman and announced the plan to take up railroading, likely making Detroit his headquarters. He will work about a year or two with the Cincinnati Hamilton and Dayton in the operating department under Mr. Harding and then return home to arrange affairs for an extended absence.
