A 14 nation Asian conference in New Delhi backed Nehru's co existence principles and urged a peaceful settlement of Formosa and Korea. An Army deserter and check forger named Daniel William O Conner age 26 was added to the FBI ten most wanted list. He deserted May 6 1946 from Fort Campbell Kentucky and later served time in Windsor Ontario for breaking into a hotel room. He operated bogus check schemes across North Dakota Montana and Oregon before re entering the United States in spring 1953.

A survey by the Iowa Chain Store Council shows over half of 77 participating towns missed their Community Chest quotas. Total contributions were 4.32 million dollars against a 4.36 million goal, with Des Moines the top collector at 1.35 million and Luverne at 760.

Corsi Rejects Offer For Substitute State Post

Edward J Corsi, ousted as State Department Immigration adviser, refused a substitute post offered by Secretary of State Dulles. Waterloo report says six jurors were seated for the trial of Dorothy Ehlert 50 of Evansdale accused of plotting to kill her husband Henry 60. Prosecutor K L Kober plans 12 witnesses including Donald Shindley 21 and other children. A fire late Sunday destroyed an eight room two story farm home with contents and a garage near Fayette Iowa. Don Becker his wife and four children were away from the house. Neighbors summoned firefighters but the structure could not be saved. Loss estimated at 10000 dollars.

Manslaughter charges filed in Des Moines

Des Moines man Carl E. Bassett 43 faces manslaughter charges for the strangulation death of Thomas Pinson 37 after a struggle at the home of Pinson’s estranged wife. A preliminary hearing is set for April 25 by Municipal Judge Donald Tidrick. Pinson died after being taken to a local hospital.

Three Iowans Die In Weekend Mishaps

Three Iowa residents died in weekend accidents. A Waterloo boy, Gary Graves five, was struck by a car after running into the street. Driver Cleve Crawley reported he did not see him until bystanders shouted. Dennis Sharar fifteen, of Williams, died from head injuries after his car overturned into a ditch near Williams. Irvin Dreier twenty nine, of Waterloo, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in his car due to a faulty muffler.

Raab Arrives in Moscow For Austria Talks

Austrian Chancellor Julius Raab arrived in Moscow to begin negotiations with Soviet leaders on Austria's freedom. Molotov Mikoyan and a 60 piece brass band welcomed the party in a pomp filled ceremony as talks were set to start Tuesday to end the four power occupation and advance peace.

Raymond B. Mulder former bank president and William F. Hankinson former bank vice president were sentenced to 18 months in prison. Eldon L. Neal and Thomas J. Watson received suspended 18 month terms and three years probation. The bank and Mid Town Motors were fined $3,750.
