About 1100 attendees at the inaugural Antique Show and Flea Market sponsored by Planned Parenthood of Washington County on April 5 and 6. Organizers thank local volunteers led by Ed Gray for security and the antique dealers for cooperation. Proceeds fund Planned Parenthood programs.
Don Turner announces a camp rally at the Washington YMCA Thursday at 7 p.m. The event, with a slide presentation by Camp Arrowhead's director, invites all boys over 7 and their parents to learn how to fund their summer camp experience.
Ronald Reagan will keynote the American Liberty Dinner of 75 in Marshalltown at Memorial Coliseum on April 25 at 7 30 p m. Jim Rich of Washington was reelected president of Midwest Egg Producers Cooperative Association at the sixth annual meeting in St. Louis. New officers include Gene Newsom, vice president. Dan Roth, secretary. and Dean Portinga, treasurer. Rich Newsom and Herb Steinbrueck were named to serve as directors of United Egg Producers. Rich is active with egg producer groups and serves on the Iowa Egg Council and with Yoder Inc. Country Lane Egg Division in Kalona.
A UPI report says two men Roger Jensen and Gordon Reisinger were found guilty by a U.S. District Court jury on embezzlement charges tied to the October 1973 collapse of the First National Bank of Eldora. Jensen, 36, of Eldora, and Reisinger, 35, now of Red Oak, were indicted in January.
Iowa State University historian Mrs Dorothy Schwieder will give a talk on The Old Order Amish in Kalona on Thursday April 17 at 7 30 p m in the Junior High building. The event is free and co sponsored by the Washington County Bicentennial Commission Kalona Historical Society and the Washington County Extension Service.
Governor Robert D. Ray dismissed a Department of Transportation study as shown not to boost Iowa safety or traffic. House Speaker Dale Cochran called the data favorable to legalizing longer rigs and indicated a bill may be offered. The report projected modest interstate traffic increases and limited economic benefits for Iowa with most gains outside the state.
Washington High School schedules Wheelchair Day on April 22 with students confined to wheelchairs to experience barriers faced by the handicapped. Easter Seals official James McCabe will discuss life with a handicap and a pilot survey on accessible buildings, tied to federal funding and architecture access standards.

A petition signed by 77 students and other youth accused a local officer of harassment and reckless pursuit endangering others. It claims the officer stopped cars with mag wheels on young drivers without reason and used profane language after halts. The petition was given to Mayor Harold Johnson for review.
The future of thousands of war displaced orphans in Saigon is uncertain as conflicting reports surface about adoption flights to the United States. An agency official fears no more flights will occur, while a federal official expects 4,000 more children to arrive. The latest DC10 jet brought 286 orphans to Travis AFB for processing at the Presidio in San Francisco. Daniel Parker of USAID projected up to 4,000 additional arrivals.
Cedar Rapids Senator Cloyd Robinson plans a bill this week to ban employers from forcing mandatory overtime. Robinson, D Cedar Rapids, says overtime reduces hiring costs but many workers prefer time with their families, and some employers treat workers as if they own them.
The Interstate Commerce Commission released a plan to abandon many miles of Rock Island Lines track in Iowa. The plan, open for public comment, follows offers by midwestern and western railroads to take control of profitable segments if the system shuts down, with North Western Railway proposed to replace much Iowa service with truck transport.
Lawmakers rejected both regional council and state commission plans in a lengthy debate on the land use measure. Proponents of local control argued for grassroots planning while opponents warned of bureaucratic risk and loss of citizen input, as a five or thirteen member state panel would have decided policy.
