Car Truck Collision Claims Washington Man
A 29 year old Washington resident Larry Richardson was killed instantly in a morning car truck crash at the West Van Buren and S Avenue B intersection. Miss Donna Van Winkle, 17, was injured, and the truck driver Rueben F. Nissy, along with two Richardson children, were unharmed. Police described Richardson pulling from a stop sign into the path of a lumber truck, which struck his car and dragged him. the truck continued and hit a parked car and a music company panel truck. The death marked the first Washington street fatality in four years. the December 3, 1962 incident last noted.

Riots in Saigon Wound 8 Americans Near Tan Son Nhut
Overnight street battles erupted in Saigon as anti American demonstrations spread from the Tan Son Nhut area. A hand grenade exploded near the airport wounding eight Americans and three Vietnamese, while a later attack damaged two American limousines. U.S. military police reported an American shot and wounded during the rioting.

U.S. troops report two major operations Lincoln and Fillmore in which 44 Communists were killed while Air Cavalry and 101st Airborne pressed Vietnamese targets. Air and naval units conducted 41 combat missions against North Vietnamese highways and installations with light flak and no losses. A Skyraider crash in Da Nang Harbor wounded the pilot, rescued by helicopter. Near Tuy Hoa, the 101st Army unit attacked a fortified Viet Cong position.

Students to visit Iowa mental health institute
About 80 students from 12 Iowa colleges will spend two nights at the State Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant. They will meet therapists and psychologists with the MHI chaplain and Superintendent Dr. W B Brown and sleep in wards. A Sunday worship service with hospital patients will close the weekend.
