A Nebraska mother credits Dr. Pierce medicines with saving her sister from wasting of the digestive organs. She reports using Golden Medical Discovery and Favorite Prescription along with pennyroyal or similar remedies, claiming the sister recovered after doctors said no help remained. The testimonial describes the medicines as nerve nourishing and blood forming and notes they contain no alcohol or narcotics.
The American Bridge company discharged 800 workers at its Youngstown plant after the strike spread, threating dismantling and relocation if not settled. The action followed the firing of 25 rivet heater positions and wage dispute sparks. The scene reflects broader labor tensions in early April across Michigan and Ohio.

Senate committee reports favorably on public building bills for Sterling Ohio Flint Michigan and Kalamazoo Michigan addition.
The Retail Grocers' Association of Wisconsin elected KR Schmidt of Milwaukee as president J B Murray of Lacrosse and A Smith of Eau Claire as vice presidents John Mulder Lacrosse as secretary and A Lichtenberger Oshkosh as treasurer The next convention will be in Madison Detroit on April 5.

New York on April 7 saw a voluntary police cooling of liquor traffic with about a thousand officers meeting to keep saloons closed on Sunday. Hotels served drinks only with meals and Bowery bars largely locked doors while few violations were found in West Thirty-seventh precinct.
Lansing April 7 The State Insurance Commissioner refused to renew the Michigan license of the National Protective Legion of Waverly New York with about 7000 members in the state. He says the legion’s business is not covered by the fraternal beneficiary law and cites misdirected profits and large unbenefited distributions as incompatible with state law.

Carrie Nation was arrested in Nebraska City Nebraska after threats to smash a saloon despite a bartender slapping her. She returned with followers and was jailed before being released on condition she evacuate on the next train. she also secured a promise to prosecute the bartender.
In Chicago on April 7 the Thoombs murder defense closed without calling the defendant. They attacked the accuser’s veracity and offered no alibi or explanation for Carrie Larsen’s death while Thoombs allegedly took her to the steamer for work.
The Department of Agriculture reports U S farm product exports reached a record 602000000 in 1901 with a gain over 100000000 from 1900. Imports declined vs last year while sugar coffee hides and other items led agricultural imports totaling about 158000000. Cotton surpassed breadstuffs in export value, meat products rose as a major category.
Emperor William discusses Cecil Rhodes bequest sees German scholars chosen by the emperor. The report links Rhodes policy to international ties among Germany Britain the United States and their colonies.
