Spring Storm Brings Heavy Snow to Northwestern Iowa
A new spring storm dumped heavy snow up to five inches in extreme northwest Iowa and brought freezing rain and sleet to much of the state. Winds gusting to 66 mph felled trees and downed power lines, ripping a 350 foot radio tower and closing Liscomb School. Gary Mills of Keota son of Mr and Mrs Don Mills underwent a serious heart operation at the University of Iowa Hospital Tuesday morning. His heart valve was only 9 percent open requiring strong pumping and his body was iced and thawed with extreme care. By Wednesday morning reports indicated he recovered in fine shape. He is a seventh grader at Keota Community School.
