Brooder Houses and 1200 Turkeys Burn in Franklin Fire
Four brooder houses and 1200 turkeys burned at the William Mash farm in the Franklin community. Mr Bash checked the site at 1 am and returned to find the middle row of the three rows of houses destroyed and another brooder house on fire. The Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi River lies about five miles away. The incident involved an estimated loss of 15 million dollars.

Funeral services for Mrs. C. F. Mayer of Wellman will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Powell funeral home. Rev. Ro W. Pinnell of Wellman will conduct the service followed by burial in the family lot of the Wellman cemetery. Mrs. Mayer was found dead Monday morning by her brother J. A. Dodds of Wellman. Arrangements were delayed awaiting arrival of a sister from Texas.

The Seventh Regional Wage Stabilization Board finds Silent Sioux Oil Burner Corp of Orange City Iowa issued wage increases to 46 employees before wartime wage controls eased in August 1945. An income tax disallowance of 2400 dollars will be assessed as a result. Chairman A J Granoff reported the ruling in Kansas City Missouri on April 4.
