Federal District Judge Charles A. Dewey ruled that the farm debtor amendment to the national bankruptcy act does not grant a debtor the right to buy back property without the consent of lien holders. The ruling is on file in the United States district clerk’s office in Des Moines.
Washington dispatch notes that nearly a quarter of Iowa farms have electric service but a federal power commission survey shows more than 160000 farms still without electricity.
A Brighton man, Mr Stattler, was injured while dragging roads with a tractor. He stopped to fix the fuel, cranked the engine, the gear slipped, the tractor lurched forward, throwing him to the ground as a wheel passed him and the drag halted the machine.

Woodbury County Attorney Max Duckworth says a special grand jury will be summoned to investigate charges of vice protected by state officials in Sioux City. Governor Herring expects thorough investigation and possible prosecutions if warranted.
E H Gunter manager of Mr Pleasant Food Products visited the city aiming to recruit farmers to plant sweet corn this season. He seeks about 200 acres and may open a canning factory if Washington County soil proves suitable. A double engine freight train derailed on the Rock Island line at Tiffin Iowa injuring station agent George Ssigle who escaped with serious injuries as the depot was demolished. Sixteen cars derailed including tractors and corn with damage estimated at 100 000. Trains rerouted over parallel tracks. A broken wheel or rail is blamed.

Ralph Dougherty was elected president of the congregation at the annual Presbyterian church meeting last night. Fred L. Keokuk April 4 Deputy U S Marshal Thomas P. Gray died from injuries from a Sunday auto crash that also killed his wife. He will be buried in Keokuk, with details announced today.
