Rosario Jose Diaz aged 22 attempted to rob a passenger on a Buenos Aires streetcar. He fled when confronted, slipping from his coat, losing his shirt and suspenders as the car moved. A conductor stopped him and a policeman arrested Diaz.
Iowa Auditor Chet Akers reports the 1951 52 fiscal year could have saved 162 299 by using more state owned cars. The audit finds abuses including a car assigned to Loyd Van Paten traveling 14 817 miles with most mileage Des Moines to Indianola. It urges reassigning the vehicle and notes 12 departments could save more by expanding state car use.

Deputy says the youth who was arrested on a robbery charge with his blond girlfriend after one stay in New York and two double murders Illinois and Minnesota showed no remorse.
Jaycee Easter Egg Hunt begins at 9 30 Saturday morning in Sunset Park with 6000 candy eggs hidden by Junior Chamber of Commerce members. Event is open to Washington area children, weather permitting, in three age groups with 78 prizes overall.
Soviet troops and East German police arrested Master Sgt. John Albright and Sgt. Hugh Owens, plus Mrs. Susie Owens, after they strayed into Soviet occupied territory near the American sector. The trio had just passed the American checkpoint en route from Frankfurt to Berlin.

Cora Caroline Bitting of route one Ainsworth escaped injury in a morning crash on highway 92 in Ainsworth. Her car pulled into the path of Edward H. Marsh Banks of Detroit Michigan who could not stop. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage but no serious injuries occurred to either driver.

Mrs Frank Webb died in California shortly before her 90th birthday. Born Ella Giffith on a farm near Washington she lived in the area for years before moving to Fallbrook California with her daughter Mrs Edna Coons. She is survived by a brother Sam Griffith of Fairfield. Funeral services and burial are planned in California Saturday afternoon.

Myrtle Kepler Miller of Kalona dies suddenly at home at 10:30 p.m. She was 46, born August 3, 1906, and married Roy H. Miller February 6, 1929. Funeral at Kalona Methodist Church Sunday at 3 p.m. with Rev. L. E. Jones. burial in Sharon Hill Cemetery. Survived by husband, two brothers Jesse and Alva, sister Mrs. Anna Johnson of Minneapolis. parents and one sister preceded in death. Funeral home: Peterseim and Son.
Richard A. Sachse, 20, confessed to stealing $4,005 from 75 church collection boxes to fund a cross country spree from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles in a stolen car. He faces robbery charges and was previously convicted of stealing from about 400 churches, labeled a professional church burglar by Beverly Hills police chief C. H. Anderson.
S. W. Easter reports early contributions flowing to Richard Weeks, county treasurer, as campaign letters explain the effort to aid servicemen through the United Fund. Donations should be mailed to Weeks at Washington National Bank. USO remains the primary recipient of funds.
George Decker a 21 year old Birmingham resident was found in a ditch near Fairfield early today and police believe he was struck by a car. He was hospitalized at the University of Iowa Hospital Iowa City in serious condition with a shattered leg possible broken hip and severe shock
Gen. Alfred Gruenther says Moscow seeks to isolate the United States from its Allies with a peace offensive. He warns the move may be legitimate or not and calls NATO forces inadequate for a full invasion threat, urging unity to counter Soviet blandishments.
Chester Williams, formerly of Washington, now lives in Oskaloosa and started Monday as head of plumbing and heating at the Washington noes Ward store. He works with Mrs. Williams and their three children Robert Linda Lee and Susan Ann who will stay in Oskaloosa through the school year.
