The parade committee led by Lester Gir Al Goddard and C E Binkert announces a Centennial celebration parade opening at 10 00 A M to be miles long and surpass any Washington parade. Citizens and organizations are urged to contact committee members to contribute items and entries from 1839 to the present for display and placement in the parade.

Small Boy Hurt In Lincoln School Fall

Keota June 2 Oren Palmer 59 died Sunday night at 11 in the home of Mrs. Minnie Stewart after a brief illness. A physician and his brother were summoned but he died almost instantly. Funeral Wednesday 3 PM Federated church with Rev. Vern W. Butler. burial in Keota cemetery. Survived by brother, sister Carrie Dill of Washington, and two daughters Anna Ruth Palmer and Mrs. George Culver. wife predeceased.

Car plunges off bridge injures couple near Brighton
Mr and Mrs William Patterson escaped serious injury when their car plunged about 16 feet from a narrow bridge into a creek bed three miles east of Brighton on the Brighton Coppock road. The car toppled and was piled on by a trailer. Mrs Patterson was mudded, he crawled free after the incident.

Former Grain Dealer W A Whiting Dies at 78
William A. Whiting, 78, died Sunday after a prolonged illness. Born August 3, 1860, near Caledonia Illinois he lived in Washington since 1902 where he ran a grain elevator. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and is survived by his wife five children nineteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 pm at L A Jones Funeral Home conducted by Dr E W Nastwood. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Push Concrete Work Continues Through Rain Delays
Despite daily showers over the past week, Massman Company workers and Bob Risk's paving gang pressed on at the North Second Avenue underpass project. Ralph Hall said crews aimed to finish patch work at the North Second Avenue and East Third Street intersection and resume pouring a twenty foot concrete slab north of the tracks. Sidewalk work and gutter installation along the south of the tracks progressed with six foot walks.
