Despite oppressive heat a large audience attends the Methodist church program marking the end of a two week union vacation Bible school conducted by Methodist, Baptist, United Presbyterian and Evangelical churches. Enrollment reached 288 with 212 average daily attendance and 111 pupils with perfect attendance.

Brighton Man Hurt In Runaway Accident
Ira Saunders of four miles southeast of Brighton was injured when a cultivator draft animal team frightened while he was un hitching in a barn yard. His left arm was torn by the tongue, and he suffered abdominal pains but no internal injuries were found. He left the hospital for home on June 27.

Mastin Leads Kansas Party Home From Long Tour

The Methodist parsonage rebuilt after the fire held a dedicatory service with EB Ham mer passing keys to R B Brown and then to Mrs E Schmitt and Mrs F C Witzigman. Funeral of A. J. Wagner Held at Sherman's Home
Funeral services for A. J. Wagner were held at 2 p m Sunday at Sherman's funeral home with burial in Elm Grove cemetery. Dr F C C Witzigman conducted the service. The body was transported from Ottawa Ontario where Mr Wagner died Friday. He lived most of his life near the city and later resided in Ottawa for several years.

Wellman Men Sentenced to Thirty Days in Jail
Deputy Sheriff H M Putnam returned home with Eldon and Clifford Ayres of Wellman to serve thirty days each in the county jail for disturbing the peace last Saturday night. Adele Baschnagel of Riverside died Friday at Washington County Hospital during an operation for stricture. She was 68, survived by six children, two grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers, and will be buried at Mt. Olivet. Funeral at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.

Myron FE Tinnes age 26 died June 20 in a Davenport chi spa sanitarium after a long illness. Born July 2 1907 on a farm near Talleyland he lived most of his life in Dutch Creek township Keota county. M Govern Gets School Painting Contract
At Monday board of education meeting contracts were awarded for redecorating the high school auditorium and interior walls and exterior woodwork at the Wallace school. Owen McGovern won the labor bids at 198 dollars for the high school project and 181.50 dollars for the Wallace contract. Sherman Bros. will furnish the paint at set per gallon prices. Work to be completed by August 10 with minor improvements in the high school assembly room and window shades replaced.
