Wellman Doctor Dr Braden Dies at 9 15 A M
Wellman June 22 Dr A L Braden died of a heart attack while beside his car in front of his office. He had been ill for years, grieved by the death of his daughter Cor delle on May 15. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Wellman at 2 pm Wednesday. Burial followed in Mediapolis. He practiced nursing and medicine in New York and Iowa before moving to Wellman in 1903. He was weight of marriage Carrie Virginia Heizer in 1903 and leaves a wife, one daughter, and three granddaughters.

THOMAS D. ADAMS DIES AT WELLMAN THOMAS D. ADAMS DIES AT WELLMAN WELLMAN June 19 Thom as D. Adams 4 a prominent business man here for thirty years died at his home Thurs day afternoon at 250 following an illness of several years. He had been bedfast since last December. Mr Adams was born in the Lexington neighborhood July 1871 the son of James H. and Martha Sitler Adams. He Was Married October 18 1899 to Nellie Miller and they set tled on a farm in the Lexing ton community. In 1906 they came to Wellman where Mr Adams engaged in the coal bus iness and several years ago we and his son Keith built an oil Station which they operated in connection with the coal busi ness. He is survived by his widow and one son Keith of Well man three brothers e Fr Adams Sumner Iowa James Adams Keota and Jay Adams Minneapolis Minn two sisters Mrs J W Kirkpatrick Allison Iowa and Mrs W B Marbourg near Washington. Three broth ers and one sister are deceased. Mr Adams was a member of the Methodist Church the Ma sonic lodge the Order of Eastern Star in Wellman at the home Saturday at 2 30 PM In conducted by Rev Thomas Osborne. Burial was made in Wellman cemetery

Clarinda resident William Kramer, 112, proclaims himself the oldest living Republican. He recalls the Roosevelt birth era and says he supported 20 presidents, 14 Republicans. Born in Germany, he came to America in 1850 and was 41 at Lincoln’s assassination. He never married and reared orphaned nephews’ children since 1888, now living on a farm with a nephew.

Mrs Nellie Clarice Stanley Brady died Saturday afternoon in Iowa Methodist Hospital Des Moines from pneumonia. Funeral services were Tuesday at Brady Funeral Service with burial at Pleasant Plain cemetery. She was born November 14 1881 at Ackworth Iowa and survived by son Clifford Brady mother Elizabeth Reed Des Moines brother Ernest Stanley and other relatives. She was a member of Washington Methodist Church.
Riverside cafe to open with Dautremont plan
Louis Dautremont announces a new Riverside restaurant opening on Wednesday June 24. He buys fixtures and stock from Emma Frank who ran the cafe. His sisters will assist. The Hills softball league plans a July 12 tournament in Hills with Philip Michel organizing teams. Preliminary work on the Washington street surfacing contract has begun with Hof tabin company planning to push the remainder of the local job to completion in the coming weeks. Funeral services for Mrs Emma Fleming Friday
Funeral services for Mrs Emma Fleming will be held Friday at the Fleming residence in Des Moines. Rev Stoddard Lane of Plymouth Congregational church will conduct services. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Mrs Fleming died Wednesday morning at her daughter's home where she had lived since her husband died January 31. Man Dies After Whipping Dog Found by Homeowner
A man arrived home to find his dog in the yard. He struck the animal, then collapsed and died. Police arrived and found the dog also dead.
City Council Sells Special Sewer Bonds for West End Project
At Tuesday's meeting the city sold special sewer bonds totaling 10 448 to National Bank of Washington the highest bidder with interest at 4 1 4 percent. Proceeds pay the contractor for the west part sewer extension completed this year as a PW A project government covering 8 919 of the cost. Tax collection will shift from city hall to the county and 2 314 has been collected. The council also granted beer selling permits to the Chocolate Shop and the Candy Kitchen completing eight local licenses. five were approved earlier and the eighth license expires in October.
